Cleaning & Prevention

Preventative dental care is very important. Neglecting your teeth can lead to gingivitis, tooth decay and periodontal disease. Studies have shown that a person’s dental health can have direct correlation to their physical health. Heart disease and diabetes can be affected by improper dental care. Cleveland dentist Dr. Steve Marsh can help keep you and your teeth on track with routine check-ups and cleanings.

Dental Exams

Cleveland dentist Dr. Steve Marsh performs comprehensive dental exams on his patients every four to six months to ensure his patients and their teeth are healthy. X-rays are updated on a regular basis to ensure there are no signs of decay, tumors, cysts and bone loss. They are also used to determine tooth and root positions.

Home Care

The ultimate goal is to ensure your smile lasts a lifetime. Your personal home care plays a major role in achieving that goal. Home care begins by eating balanced meals, reducing the amount of snacks you eat and correctly using the various dental aids available to you.

Regular and proper tooth brushing with an ADA approved, soft bristle brush and toothpaste is your main defense against plaque and bacteria. We also recommend using electronic toothbrushes because they are easy to use and can efficiently remove plaque. There is however, no replacement for flossing. Daily flossing is the best way to clean between the teeth and under the gum line. Flossing not only reaches small spaces, but it disrupts plaque colonies from building up, preventing damage to the gums, teeth and bone.
