New Flatscreen TVs in the Treatment & Reception Rooms

We’ve received some nice feedback on our newsletter (where we highlighted our blogs). We would welcome any thoughts on topics we might cover here or in future newsletters on our office and your Cleveland dental care.

An item we mentioned in “Smile Update” was our new flatscreen monitors in the treatment and reception rooms. They are DVD capable, so we are able to watch anything from dental techniques, which we have shown on NBC/Channel 3’s “Golden Opportunities,” “Good Company,” and their brand-new Saturday morning show “It’s About You!” to movies and TV shows for longer appointments.  Just let us know what you would like to watch!

American Academy of Cosmetic Meeting Recap

Wendy and I just returned from Boston for the annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry – AACD – meeting.  It’s my favorite meeting of the year, as cosmetic dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental office staff from around the world meet for continuing education, exchange of ideas, and an exhibit hall full of new dental products.  Seminars are taught by people like ABC’s Extreme Makeover dentist Bill Dorfman and nationally known educators Dr. Frank Spear and Dr. Gordon Christiansen.  Through the AACD, I have met a number of my mentors in dentistry, including the late Dr. Bob Nixon, who not only was responsible for the innovations behind porcelain veneers but also taught me the procedures and techniques behind them in a  hands-on course.

Next May, the AACD meeting will be held in Washington, D.C.

Additional Copies of Cleveland Smiles Magazine

American Academy of Cosmetic Meeting

In late May, we’ll be attending the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.  This annual meeting brings together general dentists and cosmetic dentists from all over the world.  When I first attended this meeting in the 1990s, there were only a few hundred dentists attending, mostly from the United States.  This year’s meeting will have thousands of dentists from all over the world exchanging information, ideas, and techniques.  It is truly the finest meeting of its kind.

I can’t wait to share with you the latest and greatest from the world of dentistry on my return.  Happily, we have managed to introduce many innovations in our Brainard Place office, including Itero digital impressions, digital x-rays, intraoral photography, and the dental laser.  My first exposure to many of these instruments came at previous AACD meetings.

Mother’s Day Makeovers on WKYC’s “Golden Opportunities”

Please tune in to WKYC-NBC/channel 3’s “Golden Opportunities” on Sunday morning, May 8th at 11:30 am to watch “Mother’s Day Dental Makeovers” featuring a number of our patients.

Host Armond Budish (who also happens to be Minority Speaker of the House in Ohio) reviews some of the dental techniques that we use in our office to change our patients’ smiles – and their lives!  I had the opportunity to review techniques like porcelain veneers, ceramic crowns, and tooth-colored fillings and how they can be utilized to remake your smile and achieve dental health.

Learn More About Our New Navigator Laser

We love our new Navigator laser.  Wendy and I just spent time at the Ivolclar company in Buffalo getting advanced training on it and are even more thrilled with the opportunities with it; from gum contouring to help with painless canker sore removal.  For more on how the Navigator laser, watch our appearance on WKYC’s “Good Company” in the video window below. New Dental Technologies from Cleveland dentist, Dr. Marsh

Last week we were visited by WKYC “Good Company” Channel 3 reporter Joe Cronauer, who asked us to feature some of the newest techniques in dentistry (watch the segment in the video window below).  I showed Joe our latest purchase, the Odyssey Navigator Intraoral Laser, which can be used for gum contouring, removal of some oral lesions, and even treatment of canker sores.  The laser is portable and often can be used even without “Novacaine!”  If you’d like to see it or how it can help you, please let a member of our staff here know, and we’ll be glad to show you.

We also demonstrated our Cadent Itero digital impression technique for Mr. Cronauer. He was amazed at the accuracy and comfort of the procedure which eliminates the goopy impression material.  He said he couldn’t wait to share the concept with his WKYC family, as well as his own family. Happy Birthday Fred Griffith!

Cleveland icon (and patient) Fred Griffith, who has been on both WEWS ABC/channel 5 (“The Morning Exchange”) and WKYC NBC/channel 3 for more that 50 years, just celebrated his 82nd birthday! He was feted on “Good Company” last month with an extra-large cake.  Congratulations Fred!!!
